Governor’s Priorities

The Governor’s priorities are to work for the betterment of the State of Western Australia and all members of its communities through engagement, support and advocacy.

Regional Visit Program

“Our strength is our people. Their creativity, hard work, community sense, education, endeavour and perseverance all go to making up who we are as Western Australians.
I am looking forward to visiting different regions of the State and seeing what makes us tick. I know that in part it is our capacity for fun and kindness as well as hard work.”
With these words the Governor signaled his intention to spend time getting to know and appreciate the work of regional communities.

Patronage

Vice Regal Patronage provides organisations with the name and prestige of the Vice Regal office. The granting of Vice Regal Patronage is determined according to certain criteria.

Lieutenant Governor

The Lieutenant Governor serves as deputy to the Governor of Western Australia and fulfills the functions of the Governor’s role in the Governor’s absence.

Invitations

Invitations for the Governor to attend functions must be in writing, signed by the most senior member of the organisation and should be addressed to the Official Secretary.

Protocol Guidelines

There are certain procedures which are normally observed on Vice-Regal occasions. Government House has prepared a guide for those hosting events at which the Governor is present.
