The Governor visited Advanced Braking Technology (ABT). ABT are a Perth-based company designing and manufacturing fail-safe brakes for commercial vehicles used in the mining, civil construction, defence and waste management sectors. ABT supply brakes to BHP, Glencore, Rio Tinto, Anglo American and Lend Lease.
CEO – Mr John Annand and Engineering Manager – Mr Tony Van Litsenborgh briefed the Governor while touring their workshop in Wangara.
ABT products are designed to operate in the toughest conditions on the planet. The products utilise SIBS® Technology providing a safer operating environment for vehicles from underground mining, to high speed on the open road, to towing heavy loads.
The Governor was interested to learn that as the braking system is fully sealed, it has the additional benefit of producing no harmful emissions, making SIBS® brakes environmentally sustainable.
ABT has won the SAE (Society of Automative Engineers) award and was highly commended in the “Industrial Product of the year’ category at the Manufacturer’s Monthly Endeavour Awards.
From their head office in Perth, ABT is continuing to develop its brakes for sectors that have a strong requirement for safety and environmental responsibility.
As part of his priorities the Governor is committed to the promotion and enhanced awareness of Western Australia’s domestic capabilities.
