The Governor addressing attendees of RPH Medical Research Foundation Awards Night RPH Medical Research Foundation October 26, 2020 By Adele Hollywood The Governor and Ms Annus welcomed the RPH Medical Research Foundation to Government House to officially announce and celebrate the winners of RPH Medical Research Foundation’s inaugural Innovation and Impact Grants 2020 winners. Honoured guests included: Hon Alanna Clohesy MLC – Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier, Representing Deputy Premier, Minister for Health; Mental Health; Ms Jocelyn Young – Chief Executive Officer, RPH Research Foundation; Professor Lyn Beazley AO – Board Chairman, RPH Research Foundation; and Dr Lesley Bennett – Executive Director, Royal Perth Bentley Group. “Events like this one are important. Not only do they celebrate the amazing work of our own local researchers, who do not seek the limelight, it gives them the opportunity to share their ideas and hopes. It’s a time for them to shine and for us to applaud them and support them in their endeavours. If COVID has shown us anything, it is that we must continue to invest in medical research now, not wait for the next pandemic to come along. While COVID has stolen the research spotlight temporarily, we must continue to support health research in all areas of need. I am deeply appreciative of the work of the Royal Perth Hospital Research who, in recognising this, works tirelessly to fund meaningful and impactful research that benefits our community, both at home and around the world.” The Governor Congratulations to the winners of the RPH Medical Research Foundation’s inaugural Innovation and Impact Grants 2020 Dr Alan Kop – Senior Biomedical Engineer, Royal Perth Hospital The Governor with Dr Alan Kop – Innovations and Impact Grant Award Winner 2020 Dr Alan Kop has been a Senior Biomedical Engineer at Royal Perth Hospital since 2000.
