Supporting WA’s AFL Grand Final showcase

It’s a once in a lifetime experience and the Governor enjoyed every minute of it, joining 60,000+ fellow West Australians in embracing the AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium.

History was made in WA on the last day in September this year with our state hosting the AFL Grand Final between the Melbourne Demons and the Western Bulldogs and didn’t we put on a show!

The Governor joined WA Premier, the Hon Mark McGowan, AFL Commission Chair Mr Richard Goyder AO, AFL Chief Executive Mr Gillon McLachlan, special guests and a packed stadium of AFL fans and supporters to witness a spectacular day that re-enforced WA’s ability to stage successful, large sporting events.

Talented WA performers wowed the crowds and the Melbourne Demons got the fairy tale finish they had hoped for, breaking a 57 year old drought to claim the AFL Grand Prize.
