Restart the Arts with Government House

To support local artists and associated creative industries affected by COVID-19, the Governor and Ms Annus have launched a new initiative, ‘Restart the Arts with Government House’, to increase the use of the Ballroom for the community.

The Ballroom will be made available until the end of March 2021 for local artists and arts organisations who have lost rehearsal space or income due to COVID-19 as a venue to perform, record, rehearse and stream – in line with physical distancing protocols.

This is part of the Governor’s commitment to continue to increase the use of Government House for social and economic recovery efforts in a post-COVID-19 era.

Please note: Even with 3.2 hectares to share, we thank you for practicing social distancing protocols and good personal hygiene while in the Gardens to protect our community.

Lunchtimes in the Gardens

The Gardens of Government House are open for the community to enjoy every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 12pm-2pm.

Even with 3.2 hectares of gardens to share, visitors are still asked to practice good physical distancing when enjoying our ‘Lunchtime in the Gardens’.

The Office of the Governor is delighted to offer tours of the public rooms of Government House and the Ballroom to schools, community groups and not-for-profit organisations.

Guests will learn about the Governor’s role and his personal priorities and, importantly, how the House is being used as a busy working House for community engagement and a place for networking to advance the State’s interests.
