The Governor with Roger Reading and Tim Sewell from the West Australian Society of Arts West Australian Society of Arts meet with the Governor October 13, 2020 By Adele Hollywood The Governor welcomed Mr Roger Reading and Mr Tim Sewell from the West Australian Society of Arts to speak about capitalising on the rich core of valuable and prestigious art history in WA. The West Australian Society of Arts is the oldest art society in WA, tracing its beginnings back to 1889 when it existed as the Wilgie Sketching Club. The present Society was incorporated 1896. The founding members of the sketching club included Bernard Woodward, Lady Forrest (wife of the Premier), Herbert Gibbs, Henry Prinsep and George Temple-Poole. The Governor is proud to be Patron of The West Australian Society of Arts Inc.
