Order of Australia Honours

Western Australians recognised in the Australia Day 2023 Honours List

In recognition of their exceptional service or achievement in our community, the 2023 Australia Day Honours List features 76 Western Australian award winners.

The Governor-General and Chancellor of the Order of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), has announced 1047 awards in the Australia Day 2023 Honours List recognising outstanding and inspirational Australians.

The Governor-General is working to ensure that the Order reflects the diversity in the community, including increasing nominations from underrepresented groups such as; women, people from culturally and linguistically diverse groups (CALD), and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This year sees the highest percentage of female Order of Australia recipients in an honours list since the introduction of the Australian honours system in 1975. 354 (48%) women have been recognised with an award.

The youngest recipient is 37 years old, the eldest living recipient is 102 years old.

His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia will formally invest Western Australian recipients with the insignia of their appointments and awards at an Investiture Ceremony in May.

Recipients announced in the list will be invested with their awards either by the Governor-General at Government House in Canberra, or by the State Governors.

A complete list of recipients can be found on the Governor-General’s website.
